Our Foundation & Legacy
Bit of England Dart and Game Shoppe was founded in 1980, by Bob and Shirley Sloan, who were Denise's parents. They built the shop into a successful business. When Mom and Dad decided to retire from the shop, George was retiring from the Navy. So George and Denise decided to buy the Business. Bit of England Dart & Game Shoppe is built on a legacy of community, service, and sport—values championed by our late co-owner, George C. Sizemore. A retired Navy Senior Chief and National Darts Hall of Fame inductee, "SirGeorge" transformed our Virginia Beach shoppe into a local institution. Although SirGeorge passed away on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2024, after a brave 14-year battle with cancer, his philosophy remains our guiding light. We take pride in serving you with the same integrity, expert advice, and genuine fellowship that SirGeorge shared with everyone he met.

SirGeorge was the heart and soul of this shop and a monumental figure in the global darting community. Following 21 years of honorable service in the United States Navy, George dedicated his life to building a welcoming haven for players of all levels. His unparalleled passion, generosity, and expertise earned him a well-deserved place in the National Darts Hall of Fame. To George, this shop was never just about the games—it was about fellowship, mentorship, and family. We are deeply committed to carrying forward his vision, his kindness, and the incredible community he built.
